A Surgeon Who Found His Way Back to Storytelling
Dr. Jason A. Patterson is an orthopedic surgeon based in Arizona, where he lives with his wife and three children. The City of the Gods marks his debut as an author — an unexpected creative venture for someone who hadn't written more than a paragraph since high school.
Having grown up in a divorced home, Jason and his wife share the belief that our circumstances don't define who we become. They hold that each of us has the power to shape our own story — to choose our own path — with the free will God has given us.

A Story Born From Family
The story was inspired by his children's fascination with Greek mythology and his wife's experiences growing up. What began as a personal project for his family evolved into something deeper — a story written for them, but meant for anyone who might see reflections of their own lives within it.
Drawn to questions of faith and meaning, Jason wanted to weave his lifelong interest in religion into a fictional world. His love for medicine, sailing, and flying also finds its way into the book, shaping the story's sense of wonder and discovery.
